Professional steam cleaning and moss removal that restores your roof’s appearance and protects its structural integrity. Includes a complimentary gutter, fascia, and soffit clean worth at least £150.
At Taylor-Duncan Exterior Cleaning, we believe that a clean roof is about more than just curb appeal—it’s about long-term protection. Over time, the Scottish climate encourages the growth of moss, algae, and lichen, which can penetrate tile surfaces and cause moisture retention, leading to frost damage in winter. We specialise in low-pressure steam cleaning, a gentle yet highly effective method that sanitises your roof without the risks associated with high-pressure blasting.
We work from our own professional scaffold tower to ensure the safety of our team and the integrity of your home. Whether your roof requires steam cleaning or a manual scrape and biocide treatment, we provide a transparent service that adds years to your roof’s lifespan. Because our van is equipped with a 1000-litre water tank, we are fully self-sufficient and can complete the transformation with minimal disruption to your day.
Neglecting your roof can lead to costly repairs. Our professional cleaning service provides essential maintenance for every Scottish home.

We prefer to steam clean roofs using low-pressure hot water. This eco-friendly, method sanitises the surface and kills contaminants at the root without the need for high-pressure nozzles that could unsettle tiles or cause leaks. We can also provide a manual scrape-and-biocide service for those who prefer a water-free removal method.
No. We never stand on your roof as it is not worth the risk of damaging your tiles or compromising safety. We work exclusively from our own professional scaffold tower with a 6.2-metre working height. If a tower isn’t suitable for a specific section of your property, we will discuss alternative safe-access options, such as a cherry picker, before we begin.
Our pricing is transparent and based on square-metre rates. Roof steam cleaning and biocide application is £10 + VAT per m² for two-storey properties, and £7.50 + VAT per m² for bungalows and garages. This price always includes your complimentary gutter, fascia, and soffit clean.
With roof steam cleaning, the results are instant; years of grime and moss are washed away during the process. If you choose a manual scrape and biocide treatment, the roof improves over the following weeks and months as the rain washes away any dead organic growth.
A biocide is a professional-grade solution we apply after cleaning. It soaks into the tiles to disrupt organic growth at a cellular level, providing long-term protection against the return of moss, algae, and lichen.
Absolutely. We pride ourselves on doing an honest, tidy job. All moss and debris removed from the roof are collected, and because we include a gutter clean as standard, we ensure your downpipes are clear and your property is left spotless.
Yes! All our roof cleans come with a complimentary gutter, fascia, and soffit clear and clean (worth a minimum of £150). This ensures that once the roof is clean, the rest of your home’s roofline looks just as good.
Yes. We carry £5 million of Public Liability Insurance and have the relevant PASMA training and certification to operate scaffold towers safely on your property.
